Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Updated Oct 9, 2026 Print

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds a second step when you sign in, so a password alone is not enough to access your account. Every account can turn it on or off.

Why use it

MFA protects church data even if a password is guessed or reused.

How to enroll

  1. Go to My profile โ†’ MFA (/settings/mfa). Members can also open MFA in the member portal. Platform administrators use MFA in Platform Admin.
  2. Scan the code with an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Authy)
  3. Enter a code to confirm
  4. Save your recovery codes somewhere safe

How to turn it off

  1. Open the same MFA page
  2. Enter your current password and an authenticator or recovery code
  3. Choose Disable MFA

Sign-in then uses your password only. You can enroll again later.

If you lose access

Use a recovery code to sign in, then re-enroll or turn MFA off. If you run out of recovery codes, ask your Church Administrator.

Important

Never share your MFA codes or recovery codes with anyone. Mutual Covenant Support will never ask for them.
